About

The IUHPE-CIPES European Centre has been established on February 28, 2007, after the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between the International Union for Health Promotion and Education (www.iuhpe.org), a global non-governmental organization, and the Italian Confederation for Health Promotion and Education – Piedmont www.cipespiemonte.it.

This agreement follows the “Letter of Intent”, signed on 11th September 2006 by Piedmont Institutions and supported by the Italian Ministry of Health, and accepted by the IUHPE European Regional Committee at its Meeting in Budapest on 17 October 2006.

Overall Goal

The overall common goal of the IUHPE and of the CIPES Piemonte is to contribute to the development of health promotion, to improve health, and to reduce the gap of inequities in Southern and Eastern Europe, including the countries of the Mediterranean Rim through the establishment of a European Centre based in Turin.

Specific Areas of Practical Cooperation

The categories of cooperation at this stage are set out as:
  • Information and knowledge sharing and dissemination in relation to policy, research and practice in health promotion and health education
  • Undertaking activities that contribute to the development of knowledge and practice that further the field of health promotion and health education in Southern and Eastern Europe, including the countries of the Mediterranean Rim
  • Development of the IUHPE membership network in Southern and Eastern Europe, including the countries of the Mediterranean Rim
  • Organization of the 2008 IUHPE European Conference, as agreed at the IUHPE European Regional Committee at its Meeting in Budapest on 17 October 2006.

Tania Re
Executive Director

Tania is an anthropologist and a final year student in Psychology. She also holds a postgraduate diploma in counselling. She currently cooperates with the Department of Anthropological Sciences (Medical Anthropology) at the University of Genoa where she gained valuable experience in technical and scientific coordination of international projects in the fields of health, care, ethno medicine and traditional medicine. At the Centre she is responsible for the direction in synergy with the local institutions and IUHPE with whom the annual programme of local and international activities is developed.

Cristina Agrillo
Project and office manager

holds a degree in International and Diplomatic studies. She studied in Italy and Spain and worked in Brussels where she gained valuable professional experience in the fields of youth policies and voluntary service. She is currently studying in the "Master programme in development, coordination and evaluation of integrated health promotion and education projects" at the University of Perugia. At the Centre she is responsible for: the Centre's management; the development and implementation of health promotion projects at Euro-Mediterranean level; the contacts with the European institutions and with organisations and professionals working in the field of health promotion at Euro-Mediterranean level.
